The Barn is home to an eclectic group of old and unusual cars. We welcome all motoring enthusiasts who like to use their classic vehicles for touring. For guests in our Self Catering Apartment there is ample off-road parking, and in some circumstances (very valuable or vintage cars) we may even be able to provide stabling. A Mixed Bunch of mostly Citroëns - our small collection currently comprises: 1975 Citroën Dyane 6 - Hilly bought Orangina from our good friend and 2CV expert Steve Hill in 1992. This car is still in fairly good original nick but has been 'resting' for a few years. She'll come out to play again one day . . . Ugly Bug Fiat Multipla, replaced the VW Camper a few years ago. It is the only people carrier (6 seats and very short / easy to park) available with any really original thought inherent in its design. It's not old, but it is interesting and great to drive (like a huge Mini - but you can see over hedges). 1960 MGA (modified). Bought by Dan in 1979 as the proverbial pile of bits (most missing!) and rebuilt over an 11 year(?) period. MGB 1800 engine and o/drive box. uprated suspension and brakes. Has toured extensively. Fast (although not by modern standards) and uncomfortable but fun. Living with a friend at the moment. DRK 3-Wheeler - aluminium and timber bodied Renault Special, assembled by Dan in 1987 from a high quality kit. One of about 60 in existence. Used to be dark blue and travelled to Germany and LeMans in the late 80's. Back on the road in '02 after long rebuild and colour change. Fast & Scary, and the mudguard stays crack, but you get hooked. Our Tom (age 10 this year) and I are now planning a future European trip on 3 wheels, taking in the Stelvio Pass (after seeing it on Top Gear). Latest news is that I have bought a low mileage 1400cc R5 engine to replace the 1100cc - should mean a bit less gear-changing on those mountain passes . . . See some Club DRK pictures 1977 Citroën Ami 8 Convertible - having originally been converted in France, reputedly for a certain french car magazine publisher, in 2004/05 it underwent comprehensive restoration here, incorporation major modification to stiffen the body and make the top keep the worst of the british weather out - the previous hood was little more than a sun-canopy with no sides! We undertook a 2-week 2000 mile family trip to the south of France Easter '06, to visit various "old car" friends. (photo shows Ami Cabrio at Floors Castle near Kelso, during the 2CV World Meeting in 2005). See more Ami Cabrio pictures. Ami 8 Trailer - my latest project is the building of a Trailer to match the Ami Cabrio - the excuse for doing this is being able to fit the family + all the camping gear etc. in it, for 2CV camps and holidays. In reality, the main reason is just to show off when we get there . . .As usual, I'm going about the build in the most complicated way possible - I've built a special chassis which uses modified 2CV suspension arms upside down; so that the tie-rods and springs point backwards instead of forwards. This means the whole suspension assembly is much shorter and better balanced for a relatively lightweight trailer. The body will consist of 2 pairs of fibreglass Ami rear wings, cut and grafted together end to end + 2 fibreglass boot panels, all hung on an aluminium frame, with ali inner panels. I'm hoping to finish it in time to take to the 2009 2CVGB National on August Bank Holiday - but don't hold your breath. See photos of progress so far.

1975 Citroën GS 1220 Club Estate. This incredible car was purchased from a friend in the Citroën Car Club in late 2007 with 29,000 miles. A complete time warp in bright Orange Tenere (same as Hilly's '75 Dyane), the whole interior is bright orange as well! See the pictures 1980 Citroën Dyane 6 4X4. We are rarely without a Dyane on the road and in 2000 bought a yellow car off our friend John Sobey (who is well known to those in Citroën circles). A few years later Lemongina was made into a 4-wheel drive by Louis Barbour who has been slowly developing his simple but well engineered conversion for many years now. More recently (2007/2008) she has undergone a comprehensive body rebuild, which included completely stripping the shell of all paint and seam-sealer and epoxy-priming, before re-sealing and painting. The car was carefully reassembled by me, using some high quality fibreglass wings from Bob Marshall at Isle Twins. She should last a few years of Yorkshire Winters now . . .
